This standard is the first time that the country has issued a group standard for meltblown fabrics for masks. It is mainly applicable to meltblown fabrics for masks for health protection. It is adopted by group members in accordance with the agreement and is voluntary by the society.

According to information from the Jiangsu Province Municipal Supervision Bureau, the group standard released this time focuses on polypropylene meltblown nonwovens for masks, stipulating raw material requirements, product classification, basic technical requirements, special technical requirements, inspection and determination methods, and clarifying product identification. Put forward clear requirements.

The main technical indicators of the group standard include particulate matter filtration efficiency, bacterial filtration efficiency, breaking strength, mass deviation rate per unit area, and appearance quality requirements.

This standard stipulates the following contents:

First, the product is graded according to the product filtration efficiency level, which is divided into 6 levels: KN30, KN60, KN80, KN90, KN95, and KN100.

Second, the raw materials used should be stipulated and should comply with the requirements of "Plastic Polypropylene (PP) Melt-Blowing Special Materials"(GB/T 30923-2014), restricting the use of toxic and harmful substances.

Third, specific requirements are put forward for the particulate matter filtration efficiency and bacterial filtration efficiency corresponding to different filtration efficiency levels to meet the requirements of different types of masks for meltblown fabrics.

The quality of meltblown cloth is uneven, and it is rare to see above grade 85

. It is understood that meltblown cloth has the characteristics of small pore size, high porosity, and high filtration efficiency. As the core material for mask production, the current demand far exceeds supply.

Before the release of this group standard, my country had two industry standards related to meltblown fabrics, namely "Spunbonded/Meltblown/Spunbonded (SMS) Nonwovens"(FZ/T 64034-2014) and "Meltblown Nonwovens"(FZ/T 64078-2019).

The former is suitable for SMS products made of polypropylene as the main raw material and reinforced by hot rolling bonding; the latter is suitable for nonwovens produced by meltblown methods. The end use is not limited to masks. The standard only applies to width and quality per unit area. Requirements are put forward, and the standard values of key indicators such as filtration efficiency and air permeability are stipulated in the supply and demand contract.

In the current market, companies organize the production of meltblown cloth mainly based on corporate standards, but the relevant indicators are uneven.

If you want to know how the quality is, you can only see it on site. The specific quality level needs to be tested with your own equipment.

"For meltblown cloth purchased from ordinary manufacturers, it is considered good to have a grade of 60. Some manufacturers have tried it. Using a machine of 65 level and better meltblown materials, meltblown cloth close to grade 80 can be produced. But this level has to be tested yourself."

Meltblown cloth enterprises in Yangzhong City are about to resume production.

"More than 10 companies have now applied to purchase advanced production lines and upgrade the production of meltblown cloth." The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Supervision Bureau of Yangzhong City said.

It is understood that driven by the rigid demand for meltblown cloth market, the number of meltblown cloth production and operation enterprises in Yangzhong has increased rapidly since late March.

Starting from April 1, Yangzhong City officially carried out standardized rectification of the meltblown fabric industry. All unlicensed products will be banned; production conditions or hidden dangers such as safety and environmental protection will be suspended for rectification; although they have licenses, those who produce substandard products will be closed down.

By the evening of April 15, Yangzhong City had implemented shock therapy for the meltblown cloth industry, and all meltblown cloth production and operation enterprises in the city had completely suspended production for rectification.
